Monthly Update February 2026

No! No! It's too soon! 😪
Alright, alright, time for the monthly update.
Coming up:
  • Groundhog Trophy single elimination tournament its 2/3.
  • 2/17 - Only 2 rooms, expect CODE RED rules.
  • Saturday 3/21 is another doubles tournament!

Ongoing:

  • Greatest of Ches-Mont Championship Qualifiers continue. If you want to play in the singles championship, REPORT YOUR WINS HERE!!!
  • Bag Tags are available for the low price of $5, which goes towards our outdoor table fundraiser. Tag Tracker will now be a new feature on social media.
  • Girish is STILL winning the Greatest Ever Doubles Champions flag race. Somebody stop him! Or at least slow him down!

Happening at places other than Phoenixville that are just slightly less cool:

  • Ladies sessions at Exton Table Tennis Club, Mondays 10am-12noon with pointers by Janel. Also Wednesdays 10am-12noon (but no Janel😞)
Get to work ladies, we are trying to sponsor a women's event at the state championships this year. Go get that 💲
  • Here is a recent email from the Infinite Loop Table Tennis Club group email:
Starting this Monday, the club (infiniteloopttc.com) will be trying out and, if all goes well, adopting a voluntary rating system along with handicaps and prizes.  This will allow lower level players along with children to have a chance to win against players who are moderately or even substantially higher level.  This will be voluntary for each match.

So, come one, come all and bring any of your kids who are interested in table tennis.  If we get kids (or adults) who are interested in group coaching or one-on-one coaching, we can look at that as well.

Thanks,
Sherwood

About Us

When: Tuesday nights 6pm-9pm and Saturday mornings 9am-12noon
Where: 501 Franklin Ave, Phoenixville PA 19460 (Phoenixville Recreation Center)
How much: $5 per night. Cash, Zelle or Venmo.

Playing at the Phoenixville Recreation Center since April 2022. Previously Phoenixville Table Tennis Club ran from 2009 to 2015 in Phoenixville and 2015-2020 as Rising Phoenix in KOP drawing players from Exton, Downingtown, Malvern, King of Prussia, Collegeville, Pottstown, and even Princeton, NJ.  On any night we would have between 15 and 40 players. Our friendly atmosphere, regulated playing format, and fair treatment of all playing levels helped us to succeed.

We currently have ten tables and supply training balls.

What we think makes us successful:

  • We greeted everyone who visited and explained our system
  • We used a waiting list system in which the player "on deck" gets to choose any opponent
  • Play is managed. Table time is rotated fairly and continuously.
  • We provided buckets filled with balls, you never have to stop play to retrieve yours, or anyone else's balls.
  • We had a sitting area for players to converse while waiting
  • Active internet presence
  • A variety of periodically scheduled events such as coaching clinics, tournaments, and fun celebrations.

We keep members informed with our email list and Facebook Page and Group.

Playing Rules

  • When a player arrives, he adds himself to the bottom of the playing list.
  • Each player waits his turn.
  • When your name moves to the top of the list, it is your turn to play. You may choose to do one of the following:
--ask another idle player to play a match,
--ask three other players to play a doubles match,
--ask another idle player if they want to practice.
-- delay playing (if he's still tired, or wants to wait for someone who is already playing).
--If a player delays, it's the next player in line's turn.
  • All players going to the table move their name tags from the "waiting side" to the "at the table side".
  • A player who is asked for a match may decline the invitation.
  • Players who chose to practice will start a 15 minute timer at the table. ***
  • Matches are first to 3 wins, each game is to 11 points, and the service switches every 2 points.. ***
  • When a match or practice is over, ALL players leave that table, return to the waiting area, and add their names to the BOTTOM of the waiting list.
  • When there are a large number or people waiting, please pick someone else who has been waiting and who has not just come off the table.  Or consider asking three players for a doubles match.

***When the player count exceeds 26 we go to CODE RED :Matches are EXACTLY 3 games OR a timed practice of 10 minutes.
Below 26 we are CODE GREEN :Matches are best 3 out of 5 OR a timed practice of 15 minutes.
Doubles matches will remain best 3 out of 5 during red and green.
